On second March 2023, African Coaching network (ACN) held the first edition of Funders Roundtable.

The virtual meeting brought together political and social activists from different countries, founders of grassroot movements, revolutionarists, Community Organizers, and funders across the globe.

Among the topics discussed is the striking democratic decline and closing civic space in states that were previously perceived as stable, which many western donors and funders are turning a blind eye to and as a result, it’s worsening authoritarian contexts in the regions, resulting in extreme violence and instability. The ACN coaches and funders deep dived into how long-term view of nonviolent social movements and philanthropy can be achieved.

It was agreed that there is need for funders to support organizations and movements working to democratize countries that are regressing.
