African Coaching network (ACN), coaches Successfully held the first exposure training (FET) in Sfax city Tunisia in February 2023. This training brought together 17 vigilant young adult men and women and it adopted an informal adult education approach using participatory and participant-centered methodology.
The main goal of the training was to equip activists with the necessary understanding and tools for peaceful movement building to create sustainable solutions for community problems.
Among the modules covered during this training were, concepts of movement-building, non-violent action, peace building, and strategic planning and their intersections and developing participant’s capacities to build a movement using peace-building tools and peaceful community organizing in an outlined strategic plan.
The two-day training enabled participants to identify the underlying causes and implications of the conflicts they are addressing in their local communities. It also allowed them to expand their ability to critically map and engage the stakeholders and identify tactics to influence conflict transformation. Additionally, participants appreciated the exposure to case studies from Liberia, Serbia and India, which helped them articulate meaningful best practices to address conflict and establish sustainable peace.
